The name is most likely Magan, the name Mesopotamia's earliest records gave the land at the mouth of the Gulf.

The district lies along Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road with Arjan and Dubai Science Park on one side, the theme park and the winter fair on another and Al Barari's green edge nearby.
