Wasl Gate is a community of townhouses and apartment buildings on Sheikh Zayed Road at the Jebel Ali end of the city, built by the government's own developer around a retail centre with a furniture store the whole city drives to. It has a Metro station at its gate, Ibn Battuta Mall beside it, and prices that belong to the far suburbs.
The place
The community lies on Sheikh Zayed Road between Ibn Battuta Mall and the free zone, with the Metro station on the highway edge, Discovery Gardens and Al Furjan behind and the Marina a short drive. Its townhouse quarter sits on quiet loops around parks; its apartment buildings, mid-rise, line the community's main roads; and the retail centre at its heart carries the supermarket, the cafes and the store. Some phases are still handing over.
What you get
Townhouses in the developer's standard layouts, and apartments from studios to family layouts in mid-rise buildings, all recent and consistent in finish. The townhouses are the community's settled end; the apartments its volume.
Who it suits
Families who want a townhouse near the Marina end of the city with a Metro station in walking distance, at a price the Springs cannot match. Tenants and buyers of apartments for the same reasons. People who work at the port, the free zone or Expo City.
It suits people less well who want an established neighbourhood or a quiet distance from the highway.
Buying and renting here
The community's uniform stock gives the register a clean record, and the tables on this page show what each layout has actually fetched; each project and building has its own page.
