The district lies along Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road south of Jebel Ali, with the free zone and the port on one side and Expo City and Dubai South on another. Its industrial and warehouse quarters are large; its residential quarters are separate developments with their own gates: Green Community, the mature, tree-lined community of villas, townhouses and low-rise flats around a lake and a shopping centre, whose parts people name as Green Community Village, Green Community West and Green Community East; a set of apartment clusters by the district's main roads, and newer developments along the water at the district's edge. Schools, a hospital and the district's own retail sit inside it.
